The staff and instructors are extremely friendly and helpful during the workout. The facilities are clean and the location is convenient.

Bodymass is an exceptional gym!!! The trainers are amazing. They are kind, knowledgeable and attentive to your form while working out. They provide immediate feedback during each workout and do a great job demonstrating the exercises and the technique do(s) and don’t(s). Aside from their great team of trainers, this gym offers multiple services that other gyms don’t and is an amazing community. I highly recommend!

Bodymass is an awesome little gym for strength training. My fiancee and I were newbies to lifting, and have always been very intimidated by big gyms. Bodymass is a small team atmosphere where we got a lot of hands on training from great coaches. We've been members for more than a year, and have loved every class!

Great gym where you can get a personal training experience in a small class setting that wont break the bank. The trainers are great, helpful and very personable. Don't be intimidated all fitness levels are welcomed with open arms. Give them a try from home during covid with their virtual classes or if things are normal again do what I did and try out of few Build classes in person. I think you will be back after your first time.

Great gym and even better community! I came to Bodymass after moving to the area and I was looking for a gym that offered strength-based classes. Having trained at a commercial gym for a couple years, I wanted a place that would provide training structure/instruction to progress my strength while minimizing injury. Bodymass has done all this and more.I have joined a phenomenal community here where I feel welcome and encouraged everyday. I've personally gotten to know many of the members as well as the coaches and it's been so rewarding to see both my progress and the progress of others. There are people from all fitness background, beginner to advanced, so I can always find someone pushing me to become better.I workout at both the Arlington and DC locations; they are both excellent.Thanks Bodymass!

I took 4 classes here through Classpass, the staff aside from 1 person came across as cold or condescending. Aside from that in one class we did a circuit consisting of shoulder press, curls, rows and squats we were told if we dropped the weights we would have to do 50 pushups, during this circuit I felt an unusual pain in my left bicep but still decided to push through the circuit which has still been lingering several days after the workout. This approach is unacceptable and is inviting people to get injured as people should feel comfortable taking a break if they are feeling fatigued or if something doesn't feel right.Conclusion: I would not recommend Bodymass if you are a novice to weightlifting or if you have a history of injuries or mobility issues. Some of the exercises and warm ups are pretty advanced so you would struggle with the workouts. If you are looking for group fitness classes in the dc area there are a lot better options for gyms which are beginner friendly with a warmer staff and environment.Please disregard the owners comment on the bottom about the open house I originally planned to go to it but after my poor experience at my last workout I canceled it and will not be attending it and don't have any plans of giving Bodymass another chance.

Went in for a DEXA Scan and RMR test, and I was impressed with how knowledgeable and helpful the staff were, particularly Nick who ran both for me and went over all my results thoroughly and clearly. Highly recommend!!

Great gym with a great fitness philosophy/methodology. It is apparent that they put a lot of thought into their programs. They offer three main programs: Build, Blast, and Burn.Build: Strength training focused on "the big lifts". The class begins with a warm-up and accessory exercises to compliment the big lift of the day (bench, squat, deadlift, shoulder-press). It's all very well put together and really helps develop the lift. There is no HIIT in these classes, but the pace does elevate the heart rate and provide some cardio benefit. They work on 4-week cycles and each cycle uses some variation of the big lifts to keep it fresh.Blast: This is Bodymass's HIIT workout. It's not the most challenging HIIT class out there but it allows room for variation if you want more or less of a challenge. I was always able get a quality workout. Like "build" it's well thought out and serves to compliment other lifts and produces a result greater than the sum of it's parts.Burn: A 30-minute cardio session. Can be a very challenging explosion of cardio output. Because of the fast pace of the class the quality of the session is more dependent on the trainer running it than their other offerings. Sign up for Virginia's classes for some of the best-run cardio workouts in the area.Bodymass incorporates a great deal of evidence-based methodology in their programs. They also offer DEXA scans, RMR tesing, body composition challenges, and individual training. It was really cool to get DEXA scans before and after 6 intensive months of lifting. I subjectively felt I made progress, and also saw my results quantitatively. Would definitely recommend this gym.

This is the best workout studio I've ever been to! All of the instructors I've had have been great, helping me with my form and answering any questions I have. I highly recommend, especially if you want to work on your form or start building muscle.Their high intensity class called Burn has almost made me puke a couple of times, but afterwards I felt great! If you're looking for a great high intensity class with a little bit of strength building that's the class for you! It's only 30 minutes but it'll make you work harder than any other 45 minute or hour long class I've taken.I recommend their Build classes for anyone looking to perfect their form and increase overall strength.You can purchase class packages through them or find some of their classes on ClassPass.

Wow, where do I begin. First, Bodymass is the best gym I have ever been to, period. That says a lot coming from me as a TV host, sports anchor and reporter I have lived in six states and two countries and come from a very athletic family. What makes Bodymass stand out among the rest is the owners Virginia Kinkel and Kris Peterson. They are the most knowledgeable trainers I have ever worked with. Having covered professional athletes for 15 years and my brother is a former MLB pitcher, I have always had access to the best resources and I can tell you Virginia and Kris are the real deal. Not only are they experienced trainers, but they care about their clients success. This is not like other gyms I have gone to where the coaches are not monitoring proper form. They also make sure you activate the right muscles during active warm-ups and are very knowledgeable when it comes to injuries and prevention. The best part is the entire team at Bodymass are kind people and so are the members. The gym environment is very supportive, and not intimidating at all. I feel like it is family atmosphere every time I walk through the front doors. There is a reason Bodymass has top rating reviews. I am telling you, you won’t find a better gym.

If you just want to move your body and sweat, you can go to any flavor of the week "gym" to splat and WOD it up with your bros -- or be gawked at by the bros. You could also just light a bag of money on fire and achieve essentially the same outcome.Or, you could invest in yourself and change your life at Bodymass.Two years in to partaking in their "small group classes", I can, with a clear conscious, say this place is the best (the quotes around small group classes is because it's more like personal training that doesn't feel like personal training when you pay your credit card bill). The work put in at Bodymass pays dividends outside of the gym - more focus to make each day more productive and physically stronger in all of my other sports and just in life.Primarily strength training, every four weeks a new program begins that builds on the previous. Crafted to be useful for all abilities from the person who has never picked up a dumbbell to the pro power lifter, no one should ever say, "ooooo weight lifting isn't for me". The HIIT classes are 30 minutes of heavenly hell that really kick things up a notch. Nutritional coaching, body composition monitoring, and in-house physical therapists that ACTUALLY get your problems fixed rounds out their offerings and majorly sets them apart.Check out Bodymass, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain - speaking from experience!

This is an amazing little gym in Arlington. The staff is super friendly....all of them! That’s unheard of at a gym. They work with individual needs and in intimate class sizes. Make sure to ask for CHASE!!!!

Bodymass Gym is an awesome facility. Their classes are so much better than the standard "HIIT" classes you find everywhere. They not only have a class that uses barbells (which is impossible to find) but the supervision by the owners and other trainers is top notch. They are constantly making sure you are in perfect position and pushing yourself!

I started going to Bodymass back in November, when I felt like I needed more help to continue with strength training. The coaches and classes are absolutely fantastic and they work great for beginners through to experience lifters. The small group classes allow for thorough technique checks and safety is paramount. The owners are so kind, and have really built out a supportive community. Highly, highly recommend!!
The owners, staff and classes here are fantastic. After years at another boutique gym not making the body composition changes I had wanted, I took my first BodyMass class last Sept. and since then, I've had so many positive changes. I'm finally close to hitting my goals! This gym is a community gem.

I've been to a lot of gym's and this one gives a boutique feel. Gym is always clean, parking is great as I do travel into Arlington, instructors make it fun and really want to see improvements. Husband and wife owned and they make you feel like your part of the family. Chase, (my instructor) is phenomenal!!!!! When we met, he did full assessment and broke down how we could achieve my personal fitness goals. He stays in contact with me constantly text and checking in social media, with him in my corner I have not doubt I will get the results I want!! I'm only 4 weeks in and I've already seen remarkable progress!!!
Hands down the best gym experience I've...well...experienced...one week in to personal training and small group classes I had more energy, felt stronger, was more focused at work, and in general just felt better. Two weeks in, and the trend continued - I even felt stronger skiing than I had three weeks prior. I was pleasantly surprised. The classes can really kick your butt! Despite being a runner/biker/swimmer etc, I felt like I was going to hurl at the end of the BodyBlast small group class.
Virginia and Kris, and any trainer they're going to trust in their gym, are the people you want to trust to up your game - whatever that game may be. Super friendly atmosphere, great location, and positive results that extend beyond the gym - five stars isn't enough.
